The current investigation was an attempt to test the hypothesis that spermatozoa of second male is given preference to fertilize ova in two successive mating with two males in Japanese quail. Two established lines of male Japanese quail viz. brown feathered and white feathered were used in the present study. The white feathered females were first allowed to mate with white feathered males followed by brown feathered males during two successive mating once in a week to determine the paternity of chicks. Eggs (n=156) were collected and incubated in hatchery for hatching. Hatched chicks were of mixed progeny, 53.52% were white feathered whereas 46.47% were brown feathered. It was concluded that in two successive matting with two different males, second male precedence was not observed in Japanese quail.
