Abstract

The present study was conducted to determine the effect of rations fortified with different commercial toxin binders on broiler performance. The study included 3008 day old straight run commercial broiler chicks (Cobb-400) were randomly allocated to 8 experimental treatments. Each treatment contained 376 birds, which were randomly sub-divided into 4 replicates of 94 birds each. The experimental toxin binders were as follows: diet -1 (Zeolite, organic acid salt, mannon-oligosaccharide, activated charcoal, and bio-surfactant. Toxibind-TM dry; Kemin); diet-2 (Hydrated sodium calcium alumino silicate, organic acid, oxine copper and mannon oligosaccharide. Check-OTox;Ranbaxy); diet-3 (Formulated di-polar phylosillicate and mixture of llites chloride.Biobantox;Venky); diet-4 (Buffered organic acid, activated charcoal, hydrated sodium calcium alumino silicate, choline chloride, oxine copper and mannon oligosaccharide. UTPP Biotech; Vetcare); diet-5 (Activated charcoal, hydrated sodium calcium alumino silicate, mannon oligosaccharide, polymers, mould inhibitors, lipotrophic and xenobiotic metabolic bioacelerators. US- Cura-tox-Fs; Neospark); diet-6 (Esterified gluco-mannon. Mycosorb; Alltech); diet-7 (Positive control-no toxin binder); diet-8 (Negative control- no toxin binder). From diet 1 to diet 6 and in diet 8, poor quality of maize (Aflatoxin B1- 357.12 ppb, Aflatoxin B2- +++, Ochratoxin- 51.02 ppb and Citrinin- 102.04 ppb) and soybean (Aflatoxin B1- 30.61 ppb, Aflatoxin B2- ++, Ochratoxin- 30.61 ppb and citrinin- 51.02 ppb) were incorporated and in diet 7, good quality maize (Aflatoxin B1-10.20 ppb, Aflatoxin B2- +, Ochratoxin- absent and Citrinin- absent) and soybean (Aflatoxin B1, Aflatoxin B2, Ochratoxin and Citrinin were absent) were incorporated. The experimental diets were given to the broilers for 6 weeks. At the end of experiment, birds were individually weighed; feed consumption and feed conversion, mortality%, Performance index score and Economic return score determined for each group and analysis of serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransaminase (SGOT and SGPT) and R.D. H.I titer. This study showed the best performance by the birds fed on diet 5 (US- Cura-tox-Fs), followed by diet 4 (UTPP Biotech), diet 6 (Mycosorb), diet 3 (Biobantox), diet (Toxibind Tm dry) and diet 2 (Check O Tox).
