Abstract

The prevalence of Eimeria species in fowls from different organized, unorganized farms and villages of Jharkhand was studied for a period of one year (April 2011 to March 2012). A total of 2100 faecal samples of fowls were examined out of which 1216(57.095%) were found positive among them E. tenella (34.24%), E. necatrix (10.34%), E. acervulina (0.62%) and mixed infections were observed. The prevalence was highest 532 (71.40%) in 0–3 months age group and the highest prevalence was recorded in Monsoon (July to October) season 614 (87.09%). The present study indicated that the fowls of 0–3 months age group were found highly susceptible and lowest in >6 months of age to the different Eimeria species of infections.
