Kidneys collected from 28 adult Aseel of 10–13 months of age were collected from the identical sites and fixed in 10% buffered formalin and Bouin's fluid for 24–48 hours. The fixed tissue samples were processed in acetone-benzene sequence or alcohol-xylene sequence, were processed by routine paraffine embedding technique. Sections were stained by Haematoxylin and Eosin, Verhoeff's method and Gomori's method. The renal medulla was observed as cone shaped medullary lobules. Each medullary lobule was enclosed by a thin sheath of connective tissue and contained numerous collecting ducts, thick and thin loop of Henle. Medullary collecting duct lined by columnar epithelial cells with basal spherical nucleus and well developed nucleolus. Thick limb of Henle had light stained simple cuboidal cells with central spherical nucleus and well developed nucleolus. Thin loop of henle was lined by cuboidal epithelium cell. The flat to spherical nuclei were bulged on the lumen. Two or three medullary lobules united to form medullary tracts. The medullary interstitium showed the presence of elastic and reticular fibers. Reticular fiber forms supporting network for all the tubular segment of kidney.
