Abstract

The present study was conducted to assess the impact of rural poultry interventions among selected beneficiaries in remote high altitude (1250–1400 meters) regions of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India. A total of 53 beneficiaries mostly young and middle aged farm women with previous experience of rearing non-descript birds were selected. It was found that interventions had higher adoption by farming families which resulted in improved poultry production in the region. However, some newer constraints were also reported by families to undertake the activity in a sustainable manner. The study throws light on some of those constraints and seeks answers to those problems.
