Abstract

The present study was focused on exploration of haematological and blood-biochemical parameters of shank feathered local hill fowl (Uttara fowl). Analysis of normal haematological and bio-chemical parameters of birds is essential in diagnosing the various pathological and metabolic disorders. It can be used as a diagnostic tool in order to assess the health status of an individual and/or a flock. Haemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume, total leucocytes count, total protein, albumin, globulin, cholesterol and glucose in feathered shank local hill fowl male birds were 13.14±0.61(gm%), 43.22±2.37%, 2.35±0.12 (thousand/mm3), 4.570±0.22 (g/dl), 1.866±0.11 (g/dl), 2.704±0.13 (g/dl), 115.20±8.92 (mg/dl) and 237.9±13.40(mg/dl), respectively. The corresponding figures in females were 9.80±0.18 (gm %), 30.68±0.59%, 2.35±0.12 (thousand/mm3), 3.942±0.19 (g/dl), 1.79±0.09 (g/dl), 2.704±0.10 (g/dl), 115.20±12.60 (mg/dl) and 237.9±9.66 (mg/dl), respectively.
