Six bacterial isolates from ducks were characterized as Riemerella anatipestifer using morphological, cultural and biochemical characters. The whole cell protein profiles of all the isolates were similar. Restriction endonuclease analysis of genomic DNA using Hinf I, EcoR I, Not I and Hha I, revealed polymorphic profiles by Hinf I, as it could group all the isolates in to two profiles. Pasteurella multocida showed a different restriction enzyme pattern for Hinf I and Hha I.
