Abstract

The present study was conducted to compare the fertility and hatchability of Rhode Island Red, Kadaknath and Aseel fowls. For this purpose 22 females and 3 males from each breed were selected and kept in three different pens at poultry unit of Teaching Livestock and Poultry Farm, Kumarganj Faizabad. Fertility was found to be highest in Kadaknath (86.18) followed by Aseel (81) and Rhode Island Red (73.27) with significant differences among them. Both hatchability on total egg set and on fertile eggs basis were significantly different among three breeds being highest in Kadaknath followed by Aseel and RIR. Average chick weight was found to be highest in RIR (37.99g) followed by Aseel and Kadaknath. Normal chick % was highest in Kadaknath followed by Aseel and RIR.
