Chicken infectious anemia (CIA) is an economically important avian pathogen worldwide. It has been responsible for considerable health problems and economic losses to the poultry industry. The retrospective study was conducted to determine the epidemiology of CIA in broiler chicken in parts of Haryana. To study the epidemiology of disease, the data related to CIA outbreaks for the period from January, 2010 to December, 2016 were collected from Disease Investigation Laboratory (DI Lab.), Hisar and analysed. During this period, out of 22754 total disease outbreaks investigated, 116 outbreaks were of CIA in broiler chickens. During the study period, overall morbidity, mortality and case fatality rate (CFR) due to CIA was 4.98, 3.69 and 74.27% respectively. The disease was recorded throughout the year. Season wise (winter, summer, spring, rainy) no significant difference in disease prevalence was observed. Majority of the outbreaks (80%) were recorded in broiler chickens of up to 4 week of age. Pneumonia, respiratory disease complex (RDC), colisepticemia, mycotoxicosis, ascites and heat stroke were the major concurrent diseases. Concurrent diseases were recorded in 86 (74%) CIAV-affected flocks. The result of this study may help in planning effective strategies for its prevention and control of disease.
