Abstract

An experiment was conducted to analyze the effect of dietary black cumin seeds on the haemato-biochemical parameters of broiler chickens (n=120). The broiler chicks were randomly divided into four treatments groups of 30 chicks, each group having three replicates of 10 broiler chicks in a completely randomized design. The treatments included the control group (basal diet) and three groups with basal diet +black cumin seeds @ 0.50% in feed, basal diet + black cumin seeds @ 0.75% in feed and basal diet+ black cumin seeds @ 1.0%, respectively. Standard feeding and all other manage mental practices were followed during the experimental period. At the end of experiment on 42nd day, two birds from each replicate (six birds/treatment) were randomly sacrificed for estimation of haemato- biochemical parameters. Among the haemato-biochemical parameters, total erythrocyte cells, total leucocyte cells count, packed cell volume, heamoglobin and total proteins showed significant differences among treatment group as compared to control group. On the basis of present study it can be concluded, that black cumin seeds as an additive to broiler chicken feed at 0.75-1.0 percent level may be recommended to improve the haemato-biochemical parameters in broiler chickens.
