Detection and phylogenetic analysis of Fowl adenovirus-I associated with poultry enteritis

Abstract

The aim of this study was to detect Fowl adenovirus-I (FAdV-I) associated with enteritis in commercial broiler and layer birds in four different geographical locations (Ajmer, Pratapagrh, Dungarpur and Sirohi) of Rajasthan. Samples were collected during necropsy from enteritis affected birds were subjected to PCR for FADV-1 detection. Partial Hexone gene sequencing FADV-1 isolates revealed 38.41% (N =58) incidence in tested pooled samples (N=151). Prevalence of enteric FADV-I was highest (29.72%) and lowest (19.60%) in Ajmer and Sirohi districts respectively. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that FADV-1 isolates shared the identity with South Korea, Hungary strains with 97.96-99.98% similarity.
