Abstract

A new method for calculating the friction factor of fluids flowing through aneccentric annulus has been proposed. This method uses the concepts of geometric parameters and turbulent hydraulic diameter.

In this paper the derivations of new equations for calculating both the geometric parameters for eccentric annular geometry and the turbulent hydraulic diameter have been presented.

Using the proposed method, six friction factor correlations have been extended to predict the friction factor of non-Newtonian fluid flowing through an eccentric annulus. A comparative study between the results of these correlations with the available experimental data has been presented, to verify the accuracy of these correlations.
