Abstract

Synthesis of wide band gap cadmium hydroxide thin films have been synthesized on to polyethylene terephthalate (PET) flexible substrate by using soft-chemical route at room temperature (27°C). These films are n-type in electrical conductivity with optical band gap of 3.2 eV. The films are consisting of wire-like structure enabling high surface area can be used in dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) for future applications. Different dyes are chemi-adsorbed on this structure like rose bengal and eosin blue etc. in order to check its absorption on nano wires. These dyes can work as sensitizers in the visible region of the solar spectrum. With the use of PET as substrate, there is possibility to extend the application area in which flexibility of substrate is important.
