Thin films of Cadmium oxide were prepared on to stainless steel substrate by well known electrode position technique using aqueous solution of cadmium nitrate and methanol. Deposited thin films of CdO were annealed at 623K for 1 hour. X-ray diffraction studies show that the films were nanocrystalline in nature. The observed bandgap of the material lies around 2.45 eV. The electrochemical behavior of the deposited sample was studied, in 1 M KOH electrolyte using cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and galvanostatic charge-discharge tests. The electrodeposited cadmium oxide electrode exhibited specific capacitance of 17.17 F/g at a scan rate of 5mV/s, specific energy 2.14 Wh/kg and specific power 0.17 kw/kg
