Abstract

The paper presents a detailed Theoretical analysis and Design Aspects and of Optoelectronic Thyristor Based Photonic Smart Comparator for Analog-to-Digital Conversion. The parameters for optimization of the performance have been discussed with a view to maximize the efficiency. Typical turn-off characteristics of a highvoltage thyristor switched off by forced commutation have been outlined. The I-V characteristics of the important application case of a power MOSFET and some important studies on the topic have been briefly discussed. In addition, the Microcontroller-Triggered Single Phase Thyristor Bridge and of an all-optical analog comparator have been discussed. Application in Power Electronics for saving of Energy has been discussed in detail, so as to provide a theoretical background of the device for use in designing energy storage devices. Designing aspects for maximizing the performance for saving energy have been dealt with for the benefit of the designers. The general Cell structure and I-V characteristics of a power MOSFET, as reported in the literature have been technically discussed for the benefit of the system designer. Schematic diagram for demonstrating the performance of the alloptical comparator has been given for the benefit of the optoelectronic engineer for giving an insight for the designing of the setup. Also, the setup for demonstrating the performance of the all-optical comparator has been presented for the Discrete-time scenario. Dynamical performance of the all-optical comparator for the discretetime scenario Input-output transfer function has also been briefly described. The paper is expected to be useful for the Researchers and Optoelectronics engineers engaged in the subject of using Energy efficiently and storing Energy.
