A simple theoretical model is discussed to study the size and shape dependence of melting temperature of nanomaterials. The computed values of melting temperature under varying conditions of size and shape are compared with the available experimental data. The results are discussed in the presence of other models. The superiority of present model over the other is discussed. It is found that the model is quite capable to study the effect of size and shape on melting temperature and is far better than other models reported in the literature. Due to the simplicity and applicability of the theory it may be used for different types of nanomaterials of current interest.
