This article reports the preparation of thin films of Cadmium oxide on to stainless steel substrates by well known SILAR (Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption and Reaction) technique using aqueous solution of cadmium nitrate and 1% H2O2. Deposited thin films of CdO were annealed at 623K for 1 hour showing nanocrystalline, nanowires and porous structure with hydrophilic nature. The observed band gap of the material lies around 2.15 eV. The electrochemical behavior of the deposited samples was studied in 1M KOH electrolyte using cyclic voltammetry electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and galvanostatic charge-discharge tests. The deposited thin film electrodes of cadmium oxide shows specific capacitance 7.06 F/g for the scan rate 2 mV/s. specific energy 10.05 Wh/kg and specific power 3.46 kw/kg.
