Abstract

The manifold increase in power demand left no choice but to harness the renewable energy sources. Wind and solar are the main contributors in renewable energy generation. The complex behavior of these sources develops the need of simulators. The current paper deals with the development of a Solar Photovoltaic Array (SPA) model using MATLAB on GUI environment. Solar irradiance and temperature are the input variable parameters. The I/V characteristics and power output are the main output parameters to be monitored for which the results are obtained and presented. The results are closely agreeing with the theoretical analysis and can be used as a model or simulator for any future research.
