Abstract

Batch fermentation is standard process for producing desired product to be used in biotechnology. The present paper describes the batch fermentation of Shiga Toxin using recombinant E.coli strain. The Batch fermentation process was carried in a standard fermenter vessel having 22 litres capacity, held at 37ºC. The biomass growth was monitored by measuring the optical density at different time intervals. On completion of fermentation sample was characterized using SDS-PAGE and 36 kDa protein Shiga Toxin was detected. The biomass growth was found to increase 26 times during the batch fermentation as described above.
