Thin films of ternary PbxMn1-xS (x = 0.1) have been deposited on glass substrate by the simple and economical chemical bath deposition method. The structural investigations performed by X-ray diffraction technique showed that the films have a polycrystalline nature. From UV spectroscopy, the value of fundamental absorption edge from the intercept lies between 1.5528–3.4508 eV and the corresponding absorption coefficient values were 6.791 x 105 to 10.00195 x 105 cm–1. The direct optical energy band gap of this sample was 2.1177 eV lying in the range of semi-conducting materials. The thin films were uniform and adherent to substrate.
