Abstract

This paper is a presentation of a parametric study on coal gasification on gas turbine combined power cycle by syngas. Combined first and second law analysis is performed to investigate the effects of gas turbine inlet temperature, steam turbine inlet pressure and then exergy destruction in each component of combined power cycle. The variation in specific heat with gas composition and temperature is accounted in the analysis. Presentation of exergy destruction for different component shows the maximum exergy destruction occurs in combustion chamber which is around 30%, 15% in gasifier, 11% in HRSG, and around 2% in gas turbine. The exergy destruction associated with other components is less than 1% which is negligible compared to other components.
