In this work, High Density polyethylene (HDPE) was used in the extrusion molding machine to study the effect of screw rotation on extrudate mass flow rate experimentally. The screw of L/D ratio 20 was taken for experimentation. The mathematical model was developed using momentum balance equation for two dimensional flow under variable channel depth. It was found that the extrudate mass flow rate increases from 22.6 kg/hr to 73.5 kg/hr on increasing the screw rotation from 8 to 15 rpm. The proposed model was also shows the good fitness with the experimental data.
