Abstract

Current energy use in India is unsustainable energy source. This consists of fossil fuels, hydropower and nuclear resources. These resources are degrading with the passing of time. They also have the harmful effect to the human as well as environment. Therefore, a new generation of energy sources is essential for the sustainable development. Furthermore, uncertain supplies and frequent price hikes of fossil fuels in the international market are also posing serious economic threats for developing countries. Renewable energy sources consist of solar energy, tidal energy, wind energy, hydroelectricity and biomass. This article is discussing about the biofuels. A biofuel is produced through contemporary biological processes, such as agriculture and anaerobic digestion. Growing population of India is the major problem. India is a developing country which consists of the large range of middle-class people. They require vehicles for their day-to-day transportation. Electricity which is produced in India is generally derived from the thermal power plant which has negative impact on the environment. It increases the CO2 level which causes global warming and greenhouse effect to the environment. Using Biofuel as an alternative is a great factor. It releases CO2 at that range which is required by the environment. Biofuel is the new requirement of the global society.
