The present work is to investigate the effect of various turning process parameters. Experiments have been carried out for material High Carbon High Chromium Steel (HCHCr), for obtaining optimum results. The process variables considered for optimization such as spindle speed, rate of feed and depth of cut (DOC) in turning operation. TAGUCHI TECHNIQUE is used for optimization. Input variables are taken from the experiment. These are analysed effectively to predict the Ra and MRR using signal to noise ratio. Regression analysis was used and it was found that in surface roughness 82.42% of variation in the model can be explained by parameters and in MRR 84.06% of variation in model can be explained by the parameters. ANOVA is performed which shows percentage contribution for surface roughness as: feed 77%, inserts 8.41%, rotational speed 7.46%, and for MRR as: rotational speed 89.41%, inserts 4.91%, feed 1.6%.
