Abstract

This article is related to a model of automatic microcontroller based irrigation system. Solar power is mainly used here as power source to control the whole system. This system consists of solar powered water pump along with an automatic water flow control using a moisture sensor. It is put forward solution for the current energy crisis for the Indian farmers. This system saves electricity by making lesser the usage of grid power and conserving water by lesser water losses. Sensors are put down on the rage field and these sensors continuously sense the water level and give the news to the farmers informing about the water level. Without going to the paddy field, they are able to know about the water level. However, if the water level reaches below the minimum required level; the motor will automatically start without confirmation of farmer to ensure the proper water level in the site. In the case of solar power based irrigation system, Photo-voltaic cells are used to generate electricity that energy is kept in reserve in rechargeable batteries. The energy which is generated from the batteries is used for the system operation. Then, the water is pinched by a submersible pump at the slope's toe, where crops or plants get water from the installed sprinklers. A newly added pivot control panels are used for communication purpose.
