Abstract

The conductance of halides of potassium, sodium and ammonium has been measured in the concentration range of 4 x 10−4 to 8 x 10−2 mol dm−3 in 0.1 mol HCl binary mixture containing chitosan (0.01, 0.05 and 0.1%(w/w))at different temperatures (298.15–313.15 K). The conductance data in all the cases have been analysed by Shedlovsky equation to obtain Λm0 and KA. Based on the composition dependence of Walden product, the influence of the mixed solvent composition on the solvation of ions has been discussed. The values of association constants, KA, are used to obtain various standard thermodynamic parameters for the association process in the solution.
