2-Amino-5aryl-1, 3, 4-thiazole undergoes regioselective condensation with KSCN to give N’(5-aryl-1, 3, 4-thiazole-2-yl) thioureas in ethanol. The ureas on treatment with SOCl2 and pyridine afforded 2-aryl-1, 3, 4-triazolo[3, 2,-b] thiadiazole-6-(5H)thione nucleobase, which on glycosylation with different sugar gave nucleoside analogues.
