Abstract

A simple and efficient one-pot three component synthesis of the biologically important aminopyran was carried out by the reaction of aromatic aldehyde, malononitrile, ethyl acetoacetate in ethanol at room temperature using NiFe2O4 nanocatalyst. NiFe2O4 nanocatalyst was found to be an efficient heterogeneous solid basic catalyst which can be easily synthesized and can be recovered from the reaction by using magnet. This method is greener as it enormous recyclable and no biproduct are obtained.
