Abstract

The study is conducted to determine multiple pesticide residues in vegetables using a quick, Simple, inexpensive & effective sample preparation method followed by concurrent analysis with High performance liquid chromatography. Pesticide are widely used, determination of these pesticide residueoften requires extensive sample extraction purification andanalysis. The study has revealed that chemical control is the principal pest control method followed by the farmers in the study area. It is found that sample of bean-1had residue of Chloropyrifos (2.6505mg/kg) and Carbendazim (3.9880mg/kg) whereas bean-2 has only residue of Monocarotophos (2.5336mg/kg) and bean-3 had been sprayed with not only Tetraconazole (2.4688mg/kg) and Carbendezim (5.4662mg/kg) but also one of the highly toxic and banned pesticide Endosulfan (0.4026mg/kg). The brinjal-1 and brinjal-3 contains the residue of Endosufan (1.4286mg/kg) and (1.9112mg/kg) respectively. Brinjal-1 and brinjal-2 had Diazion (2.2234mg/kg) and (0.8971mg/kg) respectively. For determination and analysis using HPLC the solvent used acetonitrile is best among the ethyl acetate, DMF, acetone as most all organic compounds are soluble in it and it is good mobile phase hence generally used as mobile phase in HPLC.
