Marketing is one of the very important functions which motivates any industry to continue in business. The channels of marketing of products from one ownership to the other in selling the products. Based on the highest number of nurseries found in both South and North Karnataka, the Bangalore (urban) and Dharwad districts respectively were choosen for the study. A sample of 30 nurserymen each from Bangalore and Dharwad districts and 30 traders from both the districts were selected. Thus, the total sample constituted 90 respondents. The data on marketing aspects was obtained for the year 2010–11 with the help of specially designed questionnaire by survey method. Among the three marketing channels in Bangalore as well as two marketing channels in Dharwad nurserymen group maximum quantity was marketed through the channel-I (Nurserymen-farmer). The per 100 plant cost of marketing was the highest (Rs.123.84) in case of channel-III of Bangalore nurserymen group adopted by channel-II (Nurserymen-trader-farmer) existed in both the groups. The study on product promotional measure adopted by the respondents revealed that the nurserymen gave maximum precedence to personal contact method. While, traders gave highest preference for news papers and magazines.
