Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to find out the influence of different intensity strength training on speed among college female students. For the purpose of the study forty five female college students (n = 45) were randomly selected as subjects and their age was ranged from 18 to 22 years. The selected subjects were further assigned into three equal groups of fifteen subjects each (n = 15), they were called as experimental group I underwent high intensity strength training; experimental group II underwent moderate intensity strength training and the third group was control group, that did not involved in any training programme while training duration. The training was extended twelve weeks and three sessions per week. Speed was selected as criterion variable and it was measured by using the standard test item of 50m run test. The data were collected before and after the training duration and the collected data were analysed by using the statistical tool of analysis of covariance (!NCOV!). The Scheffe's test was applied as a post hoc test to determine the paired mean difference if any. The result of the study revealed that the both training groups such as high intensity strength training group and the moderate intensity strength training group were produced significant improvement on speed (p ≤ 0.05) as compared to the control group. It was further conclude that there was a significant difference was shown among the training groups and high intensity strength training programme was better for improve the quality of speed as compare with the medium intensity training programme.
