A Study on Assessing and Improving the Quality Assurance Practices of Community Outreach Department of a NGO Hospital, Madurai

Blindness is the inability to see. The major causes of chronic blindness are cataract and glaucoma, Ajeet Bhardwaj the then-president of APCO mentioned that India has 12, 000 ophthalmologists who were busy with general eye check-up and have no time to perform blindness-preventing surgeries for patients. The WHO Initiated a mission called, “VISION 2020: the Right to Sight”, to eradicate “avoidable blindness” and targets to remove the causes as a public health problem by the year 2020. The NGO HOSPITAL IN MADURAI mainly on task of eliminating needless blindness in southern part of India. The outreach program was started by the hospital to give the quality eye care services to the community, the research aims at giving more accessible ways in which hospital can track the patients who attended the camps and to improve, modify the gaps present in the system to accommodate specialty and systemic tracking system (proposed tracking system).
