Abstract

Role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in rural development was analysed through a case study of SKDRDP in Bhadravathi taluk. Major rural development programmes of the SKDRDP were agricultural programmes, education programmes, health programmes, human resource development programmes, community development and industrial and trade programmes. Majority of the beneficiaries considered rural development works of the SKDRDP as effective for rural development. This paper is an attempt to understand the various schemes launched by SKDRDP and to evaluate the awareness of the same on the part of rural people. Various questionaries’ were duly analyzed on the basis of available data before arriving at a conclusion.
