Abstract

This paper examines the background, problems and the prospects of retail business in India in context of the quality and brand consciousness among the general public. It will also examine the challenges posed by the entry of corporate and global retailers. Will it help or destroy the traditional small retailers is a major issue. What role the Government can play in this respect is also very relevant.
