Abstract

The steel is considered one of the best structural elements in construction. In case of fire the rise of temperature inside the building takes place at a very rapid pace of time, leading to serious disasters by collapse of steel structure by reducing the yield strength and creating serious problems for firefighting and rescue work. The stresses developed in the truss members are designed as allowable stress in normal temperature. Based on applied forces, the stress developed in members is considered and checked for safe stress development. However, at the elevated temperature, the yield stress is reduced thereby leading to lesser load bearing capacity, consequently failing of the member and subsequently collapse of the structure. Innovative approaches have been suggested to make steel structures fire safe and Safe collapse.
