e-Tourist Visa: Made travel easy: A case study of India

Abstract

Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity. Travel and tourism is the largest service industry in India and it has shown exponential growth in the past. India has huge potential for tourism at mass level. To reap the optimal benefit of tourism Indian governments has made various efforts with integrative approach. One such approach is named as "e-Tourist Visa (e-TV) by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has been the demand of the Tourism industry to made Travel and Tourism easy. Now India is providing e-Tourist Visa for 76 countries as against coverage of earlier tourist visa on arrival (TVoA) for limited 12 countries. There is 1024% increase in tourist arrivals using e-visa facility. It is a boon for the growth and development of Tourism if some steps are taken. This paper focus on introduction, implementation, impacts and issues of e-TV on Indian Travel and Tourism Industry.
