Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a new domain of the intelligence that is highly related to diverse working environments. Emotional intelligence allows people to know how the others think and how they respond to the behavioral patterns. Emotional intelligence includes the ability to identify, asses, and control the emotions of oneself and of the others. On the other hand, b the organizational citizenship behavior refers to the optional and volunteer behavior of employees that is not parts of their official tasks and that is not directly awarded by the official awarding system of the organization but it can increase the total effectiveness of the organization. The main objective of this research is to study the relationship between the emotional intelligence and the organizational citizenship behavior. Statistical sample of the research includes 196 managers and employees of Iranian Social Security Organization from insurance and health care management centers in Tehran. The needed data of the research was collected using a questionnaire, and to analyze the data and to test the hypotheses of the research we used partial least square (PLS) method and Smart PLS software. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and the organizational citizenship behavior at 95% confidence level. Additionally, the results showed that there is a significant relationship between self-management and social awareness sub-components on one hand and the organizational citizenship behavior on the other hand; but the relationship between the sub-component of the self-awareness and the dependent variable of the research was not significant.
