A Study of Quality of Work Life and its effects on Organizational Performance

Abstract

The research purpose is to evaluate Quality of Work Life and the way it affects organizational performance among employees of a consultant engineering co. in Khorasan-e-Razavi Province, Iran in 2013. Data were collected using a questionnaire with the subject of QWL criterions based on Walton's model and another questionnaire about the effect of these criterions on organizational performance. 138 employees who were randomly selected among more than 400 managers and expert employees of the case study company filled out the questionnaires. The verification of the inner consistency of the instruments was achieved from the Cronbach's alpha coefficient and the obtained values were 0.921 and 0.901, respectively. The collected data were analyzed using T-test, Leven method, ANOVA and Duncan method. The findings indicate that employees of the given company are in a relative favorable QWL condition. There is also positive relationship between all of the eight parameters of QWL and organizational performance and. In this case, “Total Life Space” had the most effect and “Social Relevance of the Work Life” had the least effect on organizational performance.
