Abstract

This study aims to determine the status of information literacy of managers in the Mazandaran Provenance's Communications Company and its role in the efficiency of their operational duties as a case study research, using descriptive- survey studies method. It is based on the conceptual model of information literacy of standard UNESCO questionnaire (Felon Edlen) from Harvard University of USA. The questionnaire for determining the level of information literacy of managers with 87 questions and a 5 Likert scale, and the questionnaire for determining the effect of information literacy on managers’ efficiency with 40 questions and a 5 Likert scale were used. Reliability and validity tests were conducted at two stages and data reliability is calculated by Alfa Cronbach tests, which was 0.73 for the first questionnaire and 0.77 for the second one. Data analysis was done by two descriptive and inferential methods using SPSS and descriptive analysis shows 53% of respondents, have more than theoric average information literacy of μ=3. Using inferential statistics revealed that information literacy of Communication Company's managers is effective on their efficiency indicators (planning, decision-making, organizing managers, controlling, monitoring, time management, creative, leadership, budgeting and human resource management abilities). It means more of these abilities in managers, and more they have developed information literacy, more their operational duties’ efficiency.
