Abstract

This paper studies the effectiveness of management information systems on the organizational performance. The present paper is an applied research in terms of objective, a descriptive research in terms of data collection, and a causal research in terms of the relation between the research variables. It has applied a survey research method and generalization of the results is among the most important advantages of this method. The statistical universe is comprised of the employees of Oil Exploration Company that are 260 persons according to the company personnel information. The sample size was estimated 160 by using Cochran formula. The relation between management information systems and organizational performance was studied by using structural equations. The results of findings analysis indicate that in Oil Exploration Company, the effectiveness of management information systems on all components of the organizational performance has been significant. The management information systems have the highest effects on the knowledge management, strategic performance, organization growth, team cooperation, organizational communications, and customer satisfaction, respectively.
