Exploring the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Behaviour among Sole Proprietors in India

This study seeks to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and leadership behaviour. It is a pioneering piece of research which focused on sole proprietor leaders who work outside of formal organized sector. The sample consisted of 122 male sole proprietors from a southern district of West Bengal, India. The subjects completed three questionnaires. Leadership behaviour was assessed by using a five point rating scale while EI was measured using a multiple choice questionnaire. Multivariate regression analysis was carried out between variables but no statistically significant relationship was observed.
