Abstract

Technology developments in general and information technology in particular, from an HR standpoint affect the entire workforce and deliver significant financial returns, which are an important part of HR's growth as a strategic and value–adding partner to the business. Technology and HRM have a broad range of influences upon each other, and HR professional should able to adopt technologies that allow the reengineering of HR function and be able to support a proper managerial ambience for innovative and knowledge based organisations. The present paper is an effort to develop a framework for IT applications in HR by reviewing the past literature on the subject. The paper identifies the various tools of IT and its impact on HRM functions and how it is adding value to the HR department by transforming its functions from providing support to a strategic one.
