Abstract

This study examines relationship between leadership styles and turnover among employees of Kurdistan's Medical Science University (Iran). The population consisted of 3503 employees of Sanandaj's Medical Science University, of which 296 staffs were selected by employing convenience sampling method. Face validity of questionnaires was confirmed by 12 management professors. The calculated reliabilities of leadership style questionnaire and turnover questionnaire were 0.939 and 0.757 respectively. The data were analysed by employing inferential and descriptive methods. The findings reveal that leadership styles (r=0.758), benevolent leadership (r=0.716), consultative leadership (r=0.592), and participative leadership (r=0.591) are significantly and negatively interrelated with turnover of the studied employees. Conversely, autocratic leadership style (r=0.657) is significantly and positively associated with turnover of the studied employees.
