Abstract

Inadequate, unscientific management of natural resources and unsuitable land use patterns have resulted in low productivity, on the one hand and depletion of natural resources on the other, which has not only disturbed the socio-economic fabric but also the physical environment of a region. This is where a participatory micro level planning like watershed management provides a ray of hope wherein institutional support limits itself to advocacy, funding, monitoring and benefit sharing. The present endeavour is based on a study undertaken in Kosi watershed of Kumaun Himalaya, Almora district.
