Present study focuses on occupational susceptibility and challenges of the railway hawkers in Tripura. Due to gauge conversion (Meter gauge to Broad gauge) and other constructional works railway services in Tripura has been partially closed. Only one pair of intercity passenger train runs between Agartala, Tripura to Karimganj, Assam. In this situation railway hawkers of the State face a critical occupational phase. Systematic schedule survey and interview technique has been taken to understand occupational susceptibility and livelihood pattern of railway hawkers’. Livelihood data have been collected from hawkers union and office of chief commercial inspector, Badarpur. The Railway hawkers of Tripura somehow manage their livelihood. Many hawkers had to leave this profession and forced to undertake other economic activity to maintain basic needs.
