Abstract

This paper critically examines Bangladeshi migration and refugee issues which is one of the most sensitive, serious and complicated issues in India. Since September 11, 2001, the politics of immigration has become an extremely hot issue in international politics. Geopolitical entity, Bangladesh has been a major epicentre of population transfer to India. The issue of the large scale of immigration took place extensively in the bordering states of India, particularly in the eastern state of West Bengal. In West Bengal, Bangladeshi migration issue is not so visible and serious one. Only refugee and their rehabilitation, citizenship, and political patronage are the core debates in West Bengal.
