Abstract

Cities are indispensable for the future of the nation—as cities are the growth engines of economy and melting pot of culture. Both economy and culture build the corner stone of an improved society. In the era of urbanization the concept of Smart City has gained significant momentum. Smart cities are intended to provide a good quality of life with the help of technological innovations and efficient governance. Another concept of sustainable city comes up in terms of smart resource management without hampering the need of the future generation and without causing any environmental degradation. The major objective of the paper is to understand complex idea of smart city in which social and human capital along with modern communication system has been used for sustainable socio-economic advancement through proper management of available resources in order to improve peoples’ quality of life. The study promotes the idea of triple bottom line approach involving elements as environmental integrity, social equity and economic prosperity. A bibliometric study has been done to understand the literary concern about Sustainable Smart City.
