Abstract

This paper presents the food security pattern through indicators of availability in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. The availability is the one of the important pillar (dimension) of food security. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the availability indicators in the study region and formulate composite availability index tehsilwise and delineate food security zones based on availability indicators. The analysis of effects of availability indicators have been carried out by measuring the area under crop and production indices of different food groups for total population. The evaluation has been carried out by normalization method, correlation analysis of population based on indicators of availability, composite index or food security zones are indicated.
