Abstract

This paper attempts to explore the mechanism of agricultural land encroachment by the brick industry as top soil quarrying. This study has been conducted in three Community Development blocks of District Murshidabad, West Bengal. Data has been collected from sixty respondents; twenty from each block of the district Murshidabad with the help of structured questionnaire. The respondents are selected by applying stratified random sampling. The compulsion of farmers to leave the land from being eroded reason for the leasing process of the agricultural land to brick industry.
