‘QoL (Quality of Life)’, refers to the general wellbeing of individuals in societies and ‘basic amenities’ refer to the necessities in anyone's daily life. This has unambiguous relation with QoL. Urban West Bengal faces a chronic scarcity in the provision of basic amenities for its growing urban population. This is primarily the cult of rapid urbanization process, insufficient economic development and fast immigration from rural areas. The present paper endeavours to examine the levels of selected amenities as well as quality of life across urban centres of West Bengal for the year 2011. Seven important basic amenities are taken into account. Evidence indicates a marked disparity in the levels of amenities across different urban centres.
